Then, Now & Tomorrow

“Pasok na!!! Mahamog na!!!”
This was what my eldest brother and I heard after a long day of playing outside on our yard.  My mother would be yelling on the top her lungs to let us know that dinner is ready and we better come inside or else sisipunin kami (or else we’ll get a cold).  If that threat didn’t work, she’d tell us that the kapre would get us.  Then I start thinking of the manananggal.. But that’s a different story.

Homecoming

I ask my five-month-old sometimes, “Do you know I’m your Mommy?”
He’s growing. I gaze at him when he’s asleep and marvel at how quickly time flies, how blessed we’ve been. After six years, this little present we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived, filling our home with much joy, bringing our family together.
He’s sociable. Too sociable most times. I find comfort that he’s beginning to develop stranger anxiety. No, really. He’s a boy with a cheerful disposition, but stranger danger can’t be learned early enough. Color me protective.
